This
month's fitness tip is for all of you who need a total
body exercise that will remind you of those famous words:
"No pain, no gain." It's a great move for all over toning
and especially targets the arms, abs and legs.
Begin in a
standing position, with your feet about shoulder width
apart (it is always important to stretch and warm up
your muscles before doing this or any exercise, especially
if you begin your workout with this exercise).
First, bend
your knees and crouch down, placing your hands on the
floor slightly in front of your feet, but outside of
your knees. Make sure to keep your head up, while supporting
yourself with your arms. Kick your legs back behind
you so that you are in a push up position. Without pausing,
quickly bring your legs and feet back to the starting
(crouched) position. Without resting, extend your arms
above your head, and jump straight up into the air,
reaching toward the sky. After you land, immediately
get back into your start position, and kick your legs
back as you begin the second repetition. Do three sets
of 10-15 repetitions to start. Progress to five sets
of 10-15 repetitions as you get better and stronger.
And don't
worry, the huffing and puffing at the end of your sets
is temporary. The results- increased strength and endurance-
are permanent! |
