OMG (Oh my gosh) why now? Yes, it happens to all of us. Something disastrous is bound to happen, especially before an important dinner party or while we are rushing out the door. It seems like wardrobe malfunctions always happen at the most inconvenient times. Here are 10 quick fixes to help solve your next fashion emergency.
MAKEUP STAINS:
No time to change? Reach into the baby bag! The quickest way to remove makeup stains is to use baby wipes (every mother should know this). They are also handy for removing lint from clothing, dirt from shoes and makeup from your face.
OIL-BASED STAINS:
You are wearing that special silk blouse, the one that makes you feel like a million bucks, when suddenly you look down and see a dark spot. To your horror, you find it is not water. Oil based stains from food, cosmetics, and lotions have caused the demise of many fabulous pieces. To help alleviate its appearance, sprinkle on a little baby powder, let it settle for a minute and gently dust off.
DEODORANT MARKS:
We hate when this happens. But instead of grabbing tissue to rub it off, which will end up falling apart and getting all over your clothes, grab a lint free cloth or towel instead.
BRA STRAPS:
There is nothing more annoying than falling bra straps. Safety pins to the rescue! Pin your bra strap to the inside shoulder seams of your top. If you are wearing a racer-back tank, loosen the straps completely and, using a medium safety pin, hook and secure the two straps in the back, readjust and voila! Instant racer-back bra.
PANTY HOSE RUNS:
An oldie but goodie: To prevent a small run in your panty hose from turning into a noticeable streak down your leg, use a dab of clear nail polish or a spritz of hairspray to stop the run in its tracks.
STUBBORN ZIPPER:
What is worse than fighting to pull up a stubborn zipper? Save yourself the grief and try dripping a bit of candle wax onto the zipper teeth. This will help ease the problem.
BUTTONS:
Dab clear nail polish on top of a loose button to prevent it from completely falling off. Then, when you have a little more time, secure it with needle and thread.
LOOSE THREADS OR SNAGS:
You see it, you want to pick at it, but everything in the book says not to touch it! So whatever you do, NEVER pull or cut a loose thread. It will just end up in an unraveled mess. Instead, push the snag back inside using something like a toothpick or a blunt tipped object, then, tie a knot on the inside of your garment.
FALLING HEMS
For a quick fix, use short pieces of duct or masking tape to temporarily hold up a fallen hem. Or if you are in the office, a stapler can help too. Just be careful when taking them out.
SHOE SLIP-UPS:
You are totally excited that you found the perfect pair of sandals for your special night out. However, instead of strutting like a runway model, you are slipping like a kid on ice. To prevent this embarrassing slip-up try dabbing cola or spraying hairspray on the soles of your shoes.
